Available Military License Plates

If you are a veteran or a servicemember you may be interested in one of the nine service related license plates available for your vehicle through the Arizona’s Motor Vehicle Division.

The nine plates offered are:
1.    Veteran (also available for motorcycle)
2.    Woman Veteran
3.    Gold Star (also motorcycle)
4.    Military Support (also available for motorcycle)
5.    US Marine Corps (also available for motorcycle)
6.    Pearl Harbor Survivor
7.    Former Prisoner of War
8.    Congressional Medal of Honor Awardee
9.    Purple Heart Medal Recipient (also available for motorcycle)

License plates may be obtained online through Service Arizona, the authorized service website for the Arizona Department of Transportation, or at your local Motor Vehicles Division’s office (MVD).

Service Arizona (online)

Five of the nine license plates available are offered online through Service Arizona.
1.    Veteran (also available for motorcycle)

5.    US Marine Corps (also available for motorcycle)

Veteran plate- A.R.S. §28-2414

In order to obtain an Arizona Veteran plate a person must submit proper paperwork that indicates he/she is a veteran or that the person applying is an immediate family member of a veteran.

Veteran plates cost of $25 a year; $17 out of the $25 is donated to the Veterans Donation Fund to benefit veterans within Arizona.

Woman Veteran plate- A.R.S. §28-2447

This plate it available to everyone.

Women Veteran plates have a cost of $25 a year; $17 out of the $25 is donated to the Veterans Donation Fund to benefit veterans within Arizona.

Gold Star- A.R.S. §28-2431

The Arizona Motor Vehicle Division will issue an Arizona Gold Star plate to an immediate family member of a person who died while on active duty in the U.S. Military.

Gold Star license plates costs $25 a year; $17 of the fee is donated to the construction and maintenance of the Enduring Freedom Memorial.

Military Support/Freedom- A.R.S. §28-2428

This plate it available to everyone.

Military Support/Freedom plates costs $25 a year; $17 of the fee is a donation to the Veteran’s Donation Fund to benefit veterans within Arizona.

U.S. Marine Corps – A.R.S. §28-2454

This plate it available to everyone.

U.S. Marine Corp plates costs $25 a year; $17 of the fee is used to award scholarships to children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen who were killed or wounded in combat or who have demonstrated financial need.

Motor Vehicle Division

The four license plates below are considered special plates and are available only to those individuals who both qualify for the plate and visit their local MVD office.
1.    Pearl Harbor Survivor
2.    Former Prisoner of War
3.    Congressional Medal of Honor Awardee
4.    Purple Heart Medal Recipient (also motorcycle)

An individual who would like to obtain one of the above plates will need to first visit their local office of Veterans Affairs (VA) to get the required documentation to prove that he/she meet the requirements for the individual plate. Then he/she will need to obtain the special license plate application for their specific plate at their local MVD office. Pearl Harbor Survivor- A.R.S. §28-2475

Pearl Harbor license plates may be acquired by those members of the U.S. Armed Forces who were stationed at Pearl Harbor during the attack, December 7th 1941 from 7:55 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Hawaii time, and were later honorably discharged.

Pearl Harbor Survivor plates cost $25, all of which is donated to the Veterans Donation Fund to benefit veterans within Arizona.

Former Prisoner of War- A.R.S. §28-2473

Former prisoner of war license plates may be acquired by those members of the U.S. Armed Forces who were captured and incarcerated by an enemy of the United States during a period of conflict, and were later honorably discharged.

Former prisoner of war license plates cost an annual fee of $20; $15 of the fee is donated to the Veterans Donation Fund to benefit veterans within Arizona.

This plate requires a card from American Prisoners of War.

Congressional Medal of Honor Awardee

The Arizona Motor Vehicle Division will issue a Congressional Medal of Honor Awardee plate to an individual who has received a Congressional Medal of Honor.

Purple Heart Medal Recipient -A.R.S. §28-2474

The Arizona Motor Vehicle Division will issue an Arizona Gold Star plate to an immediate family member of a person who died while on active duty in the U.S. Military.

Gold Star license plates have a yearly $25 fee which is donated to the Veterans Donation Fund to benefit veterans within Arizona.
