Cost of Health Care

Copay may be required for Veteran’s who require treatment of non-service connected issues. While most Veterans qualify for cost-free health care services, most must complete an annual financial assessment to determine if they qualify for cost-free services. If it is determined that the gross household income and/or net worth exceeds the thresholds, the veteran may be required to pay an applicable co-pay.

Private Health Care Insurance

  • Providing health insurance information may reduce or eliminate copay. Veterans with health insurance may use their private insurance to supplement their VA benefits.
  • Generally, Payments cover Veterans copay expenses for VA Health Care.

Having a private insurance plan does not disqualify an individual for VA Health Care.
